In marked contrast to the extensive variety of glycoglycerolipids (GGroLs) present in bacteria (see Chapters 1 and 2, this volume), the plant glycolipids consist basically of three major components: monogalactosylDAG, digalactosylDAG, and sulfoquinovosylDAG (structures 1, 2 and 4 respectively) (Fig. 3-1).
